UPDATE November 25:
The December 5 and 6 Friends of the Okemos Library Used Book Sale is canceled.
The Friends of the Okemos Library voted at their November Meeting to cancel the Year-End Used Book Sale citing the difficulty in maintaining safe spatial distance while our patrons browse. The increase in incidents of COVID-19 cases in the Mid-Michigan area and the closeness that the book sales promote for our patrons indicate that we could not in good conscience proceed with this activity.
We will continue to collect used books for our 2021 book sales. The Friends accept gently used fiction, nonfiction, and books-on-tape, along with CDs and DVDs. We are not able to accept textbooks, encyclopedias, musty-smelling items, VHS, or cassette tapes. Until further notice, DO NOT bring your book donations to the library. If you have books to donate, contact Jim Tellner at 517-775-3959 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to have your book donations picked up at your home. We welcome all donations, no matter how small. Tax forms are still available as the Friends is a 501 (c) (3) organization, making your donation tax-deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent allowed by law. Our book sales are the major source of the Friends' funding.
